Research Projects and Interests
I study how colonial power is consolidated during large-scale technological transitions and switches between resource regimes, with a focus on regional studies of such processes between the 18th and 20th centuries. Alongside my dissertation, a longer-term project is to imagine velocities of academic work that nourish slow work and protect slow workers. I am affiliated with the Laboratory: Anthropology of Environment | Human Relations at the Institute for European Ethnology at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, and have been a member of a DFG Network on discard studies called Waste in Motion since 2022. I also endorse via my membership and ongoing work, the mission statement of the Alliance für Kritische und Solidarische Wissenschaft (KriSol).
My fields of interest are History of Science with a focus on energy systems, Infrastructure Studies, and Science and Technology Studies. Over the last two years, I have also been following the work of student activists in solidarity with Palestine and against militarisation in Germany, most notably the work of the Not In Our Name Collective at the Technical University Berlin.
