Practical language training (Sprachpraxis) aims to improve students' overall English skills. More than simply focusing on the ability of students to write and speak grammatically, it attempts to give students a practical basis in the communication skills needed to function effectively in English-speaking cultures. As such, language training courses place great emphasis on helping students gain a working knowledge of a range of genres (academic, functional, creative, etc.) and the roles and expectations they construct for text producers and recipients.
